Energy/Planning Reports

Energy Planning Reports

Understanding Planning Requirements

Planning reports (energy reports or sustainability reports) are required when the local planning authority places a condition on a development, further to achieving compliance with the relevant building regulations. The condition put in place can often vary geographically. Certain areas require information to be presented in a certain way, such as in London Plan Energy Reports.

Demonstrating Performance in Planning Reports

The local authority will ask that a site demonstrates how it will achieve the condition. The condition often takes the form of a reduction in energy demand or carbon emissions. But often specifies the use of a particular technology or that the site's performance is monitored over time. A common condition, is showing a percentage of a site's carbon emissions are mitigated through the use of solar photo-voltaic panels (PV). In this instance, the report would suggest a PV array, comparison with other renewables, and that the assessments be carried out with expertise.

Domestic & Non-Domestic Energy Assessments

We hold qualifications in domestic and non-domestic energy assessment, BIM and sustainability assessment. So every report we provide is carried out by experienced assessors and identifies the most appropriate solution to the planning requirements. This identifies cost savings on site, which is why major UK developers choose us time and time again. For example developments, please see 'Major Projects and News'.
